Incentives for Residences & Businesses
Federal and State governments are trying to stimulate the economy. In addition they are attempting to reduce our country’s dependence on foreign energy sources by using green, renewable energy to power our homes and businesses. Below are the financial incentives offered by state and local governments.

Pennsylvania Sunshine State Solar Rebate Program
In May of 2009 Pennsylvania signed into law the Pennsylvania Sunshine Grant. This is a funding of $180 million dollars in incentives for homes, businesses and non-profit organizations. These funds are equal to approximately 10-35 percent for residential customers. Because the funds for this are finite and are given out in tiers, these rates may change. Federal Rebates
The Federal Government is providing a 30% tax credit for residential customers. This is a dollar for dollar tax credit, not a write off.

Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs)
SRECs are a production-based incentive to reward the solar electric system owner for producing as much electricity as possible. This type of incentive is tied to how much energy you actually produce. These credits can be bought and sold on the open market through a broker or aggregator.

How Rebate-Based Incentive Work
In Pennsylvania you will receive a dollar per watt check after the system is installed. As an example, if you install a 10kW system and there is a $1.25W rebate, you will receive a check from the state for $12,500. Many installation companies may require you to pay the full amount for the system and you have to wait for your refund. At Helios, we deduct the rebate from the amount you owe us and you simply assign the rebate to us. We wait for the state to make the payments to us.
